The Zahir

"...Do you believe that your past loves have taught you to love better?"

"They've taught me to know what I want."

"I didn't ask that. Have your past loves taught you to love your husband better?"

"No, on the contrary. In order to surrender myself to him, I had to forget all the scars left by the other men. Is that what you mean?"

"In order for the true energy of love to penetrate your soul, your soul must be as if you had just been born. Why are people unhappy? Because they want to imprison that energy, which is impossible. Forgetting your personal history means leaving that channel clear, allowing that energy to manifest itself each day in whatever way it chooses, allowing yourself to be guided by it."

A dialog between the wife of the narrator of The Zahir, who left her husband to go search for the answer on lasting love, and an old wise man in Central Asia.

The Zahir is a novel By Paulo Coelho

umm.. What she had to say is very true about knowing what you want based on what you have experienced.

although it's hard to forget but I agree with the "old wise man".

I like this post Sheba
Dear Papi,

Glad you liked it.

The theme of children being happy is recurrent in the author's philosophy, other teachings also call for the purity of soul (like a child's) for true love and happiness..
He's in Dubai signing his books at Virgin!

i WISH i was in Dubai!

I love hiM!

his works are all philosophical, thereupeutic and so0 original!
In order to surrender myself to him, I had to forget all the scars left by the other men.

I so agree with that!
People who marry their first love have it so good!
if i wanted to quote something from Paulo Coelho's writings i'd probably end up copying his books !

an EXCELLENT novelist
I agree that we learn from pur past love/relationships..
Yet leaving what you have just because its not 100% satisfying, and reaching a point where you are still in love with your women/man but you dont really know what you want..and leaving to search or find what you really want is a big change and it takes lots of courage..yet I dont know if its right or wrong!
